Someone who bought a Lotto Max ticket in Ontario last October could be sitting on a $40 million fortune without knowing it. But time is running out to claim the money.

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) is searching for the holder of a winning ticket from the October 28, 2025, Lotto Max draw. The $40 million jackpot remains unclaimed, and the ticket will expire on Wednesday, October 28, 2026.
That leaves just five days for the winner to come forward.
Where Was the Winning Ticket Sold?
The ticket was purchased at an authorized lottery retailer in Grey County, Ontario, which includes communities such as Owen Sound, Meaford, The Blue Mountains, Flesherton, Markdale, Durham and Hanover.
OLG points out that Grey County is a popular destination for tourists and cottagers. The person who purchased the ticket may not necessarily live in the area.
Someone visiting the region last fall could have bought it and forgotten to check their numbers after returning home.

What Should You Do If You Have the Ticket?
OLG is encouraging players to search places where old lottery tickets might have been forgotten, including wallets, handbags, backpacks, jacket pockets, vehicle glove compartments and household drawers.
Tickets can be checked using the OLG app, an in-store self-checker or a lottery terminal at an authorized retailer.
Anyone who believes they have the winning ticket should visit the OLG Unclaimed Tickets page to begin the claim process or call 1-800-387-0098.
OLG says it has detailed information about the winning ticket, but because it was purchased at a retail location, the purchaser’s identity is unknown.
The agency will conduct its usual verification process to establish rightful ownership.
If nobody claims the jackpot before the deadline, the $40 million will be returned to players through future bonus games or promotions.
