The Bank Street BIA is bringing a free large-scale interactive experience to Ottawa this March Break.
Bank Street BIA
The Fire and Ice Winter exhibit will take you on a beautiful journey to discover the world of fire and ice like never before.
The exhibition will have many colourful and unique light and sound installations that you can interact with from March 11 to 13th. The street between Cooper St. to Slater St. will be closed off for this exhibit and will be transformed into a fiery and icy world.
This event is self-guided and the beautiful installations will tell you a story using video walls, projections mapping and interactive installations. While you’re enjoying the exhibition you can support local business by visiting the small business in the area. There are more than 400 businesses in the area, each selling unique items that you can buy, eat and so much more.
Discover a different world with fire, ice and mythical creatures in The Portals To A New Dimension. This interactive adventure was made in collaboration with EXAR Studios and Ottawa Special Events. You will experience this new world through 4 LED screens that have motion sensors.
The Burning Lantern light display includes several glowing lanterns that are a symbol of hope despite all the hardships faced during the previous year due to Covid-19. You can also play a part in spreading hope by submitting a message that will be used in these lanterns. All you have to do is tweet your message of hope or share your story and tag @downtownbank. These messages have to be sent between February 7th and 11th.
Become a beautiful butterfly at the Wings of a Butterfly installation. This interactive artwork gives you a unique chance of being a butterfly with magical wings that turn from fire to ice as you spread them. You will find your butterfly wings between Gloucester St. and Nepean St.
The Winter Whirlwind is a 20-foot tall installation with a motion detector that allows it to change its lights and music when visitors move through it. The Winter Whirlwind is located near Nepean St. and Lisgar St.
They have a 100 ft long tunnel, called the Continuum. It is located near Ligsar Street and Cooper Street. This tunnel offers an entertaining experience involving both light and sound. You will be enchanted by the shimmering lights that change colors while you walk through this magical tunnel.
The Lands of Fire and Ice is between Laurier Ave and Gloucester Street which is also the end of this wonderful exhibition.
