Edmonton Candy Cane Lane Returns For 2026 Season on Dec. 11 with Two Car-Free Nights; Sleigh Rides Tickets on Sale Nov 7

Edmonton’s Candy Cane Lane is returning for another Christmas season, bringing festive light displays, horse-drawn sleigh rides and two special nights reserved for pedestrians.

Candy Cane Lane

The annual holiday tradition runs from  December 11, 2026, to January 2, 2027, with lights on from dusk until 11 p.m. Visitors can walk or drive through the decorated neighbourhood, while admission remains free.

Located in Edmonton’s Crestwood neighbourhood, Candy Cane Lane has been a local Christmas tradition since 1968. Each year, residents along 148 Street transform their homes and yards with Christmas lights, colourful decorations and holiday displays.

When Are Candy Cane Lane’s Walk-Only Nights?

If you prefer to explore the displays without vehicle traffic, plan your visit around the two  Open Streets Nights on December 12 and 23, 2026.

On these evenings, Candy Cane Lane will be closed to vehicles from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., giving pedestrians more room to enjoy the decorations.

On other evenings, you can either walk through the neighbourhood or view the lights from your vehicle.  If you are walking, you should be mindful of residential driveways and vehicle traffic.

How to Book Candy Cane Lane Sleigh Rides

Horse-drawn sleigh rides will return for the 2026 season, offering another way to experience the Christmas lights.

Sleigh rides are scheduled for December 11, 12, 13, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 and 27 from  6:00 p.m. –9:00 p.m.

Each ride lasts approximately 45 to 60 minutes, departing from and returning to the park at 148 Street and 99 Avenue.

Sleigh ride tickets cost $27.50 per person, plus fees, bringing the total to $30.06. Advance tickets are required and will go on sale on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at 12 p.m.

Advance tickets are required. Visitors planning to take a sleigh ride should book ahead rather than expect to purchase tickets upon arrival.

Sleigh rides will be cancelled if Environment Canada’s forecast for Edmonton Blatchford predicts an air temperature colder than -23°C at the scheduled ride time. Organizers will check the forecast at noon on the day of the ride, and that decision will be final, even if the forecast changes later. Wind chill is not considered when determining cancellations. Ticket holders will be notified by email if rides are cancelled. Organizers may also cancel rides at their discretion, and affected tickets will receive a full refund.

Is Candy Cane Lane Free?

Yes. Walking or driving through Candy Cane Lane is completely free. Only the optional sleigh rides require paid tickets.

Visitors are encouraged to bring non-perishable food donations for Edmonton’s Food Bank. Donation bins will be available along the route.

Candy Cane Lane is the food bank’s second-largest contributor, making donations an important part of this long-running community tradition.

Where Is Candy Cane Lane? Parking and Visiting Tips

Candy Cane Lane is located along  148 Street between 99 Avenue and 92 Avenue in Edmonton’s Crestwood neighbourhood.

Limited street parking is available in the surrounding Crestwood and Parkview residential neighbourhoods. Visitors planning to walk through the displays should allow time to find parking and avoid blocking driveways or intersections.

For a quieter visit, consider a weekday evening rather than a busy weekend, although crowd levels can vary. If you’re driving, allow extra time for traffic along the decorated street.

Remember that the lane is closed to vehicles during Open Streets Nights on December 12 and 23.
