Drummer Jon McCaslin presents “The McCas’tet” an all-star reunion jazz ensemble featuring long-time collaborators and Regina ex-pats Andy King (trumpet), Donny Kennedy (alto saxophone) and Jon McCaslin (drums), all of whom are currently pursuing busy jazz careers across Canada. Joined by local stalwarts Trent Reschny (tenor saxophone), Dominic Ghiglione (trombone), Carlo Petrovitch (bass) and Jim Gallagher (piano), this special, “one-night-only” septet will feature music from Oliver Nelson’s seminal 1961 album “Blues and the Abstract Truth” which originally featured the likes of Freddie Hubbard, Eric Dolphy, Oliver Nelson, Roy Haynes, Paul Chambers and Bill Evans.
