Ontario Health Minister Christine Elliott said on social media, “Individuals who are not fully vaccinated represent 22.7% of Ontario’s total population and amount to 1,892 of Ontario’s 9,571 new reported cases. 254 cases are in individuals with unknown vaccination status.”
It is expected that case counts will continue to rise daily as Omicron spreads more rapidly than other variants.
Today’s case count is also the highest daily case count reported by a province since the pandemic began in Canada.
Ontario has limited the indoor capacity of venues and shopping centres to 50 per cent, limited the number of people to sit at a table to 10, requiring bars, restaurants, meeting and event spaces and strip clubs to close at 11 p.m, restricted indoor social gathering limit to 10 and outdoor limits to 25 to combat the spread.
