If your home uses a gas boiler from NTI or HTP, you may want to check its model and serial number.
Health Canada has announced a recall of 2,261 residential gas boilers sold in Canada because a component inside the units can crack, potentially causing a gas buildup that could lead to fire, carbon monoxide poisoning or serious injury.

The recall notice was published Thursday, and covers certain boilers manufactured in Canada by Ariston Canada Inc., formerly NTI Boilers Inc.
Which Gas Boilers Are Recalled?
The recall affects NTI FTVN and TFTN series boilers and HTP EFTU series boilers sold between May 2021 and August 2025.
The affected models include:
- NTI: FTVN150, FTVN150C, FTVN199, FTVN199C, TFTN150 and TFTN199.
- HTP: EFTU-150WBN, EFTU-150WCN, EFTU-199WBN and EFTU-199WCN.
Only specified serial number ranges are affected. You can find the serial number on the rating plate on the boiler cabinet’s side panel.
What Is the Safety Risk?
According to Health Canada, the condensate dish inside the boiler may crack during delayed ignition, allowing unburned gas to accumulate inside the cabinet.
If that gas ignites, the boiler’s front cover could suddenly detach, creating a risk of impact injuries, fire and potentially fatal carbon monoxide poisoning.
As of October 16, the company had received two incident reports and one injury report in Canada.
Another 4,726 affected boilers were sold in the United States, where one incident and no injuries were reported.
The company is aware of 34 cases involving broken condensate dishes.
What Should Homeowners Do?
Health Canada advises consumers to “immediately stop using” the recalled boilers and contact Ariston Canada for a free upgrade kit and assistance arranging installation by a technician at no charge.
Those who must continue using their boiler while awaiting repairs should ensure working smoke and carbon monoxide alarms are installed.
