Over 36,000 Space Heaters Recalled in Canada Due to Fire and Burn Hazards

If you use a DREO space heater to keep warm, you may want to check the model number before switching it on again.

DREO

Health Canada has issued a recall for 36,288 DREO portable space heaters sold in Canada because they can overheat and catch fire, creating a risk of burns and fire.

The recall, announced on Thursday, affects DREO portable oscillating ceramic space heaters bearing model number DR-HSH015.

How to Check if Your Heater Is Recalled

The affected heaters are black, approximately 29 centimetres wide and 33 centimetres tall, and come with a remote control. The front displays the DREO brand name.

Only units manufactured between April 2025 and January 2026 are included in the recall.

To check your heater, turn it off and look for the label on its underside. You should find:

  • Model number: DR-HSH015
  • Manufacturing date: Between 2025/04 and 2026/01

The affected products were sold between September 2025 and August 2026.

Have There Been Any Injuries?

As of October 22, DREO had received one report of an incident in Canada, with no reported injuries.

In the United States, where another 338,800 affected heaters were sold, the company received 16 incident reports, including one injury.

What Should You Do?

Health Canada advises consumers to “immediately stop using the recalled product” and contact DREO for a free replacement space heater.
