Sunflower Fields and Mazes in Ontario For a Day Trip

A visit to a sunflower farm is surely a cause for a smile, photo ops, and plenty of sunshine.

Walk on a path through a sea of yellow flowers and purchase a specialty product from an on-site store to commemorate your summer experience.  In Ontario, these flowers bloom for about two weeks, usually from late July to mid-August.

Some farms stagger planting so that sunflowers at the farm reach full bloom at various times, allowing them to be enjoyed for a longer period during the summer.

PEEL REGION

1. Davis Family Farm

Davis Family Farm grows about 60 acres of sunflowers in Caledon. It is one of the best locations for a perfect picture. They also offer sunflower yoga. You can also get fresh honey, sunflower oil, birdseed and eggs from the farm store.

2. Dixie Orchards

Dixie is well known for 20 varieties of pick-your-own apples available throughout the season, plus pick-your-own pumpkins, squash, plums, pears & hazelnuts.  They also have a sunflower field that opens around third week of August. You can also enjoy wagon rides, farm animals, a pumpkin patch, and get lost in the corn maze. There is also a photo frame for you to take perfect family pictures.

3. Campbell’s Cross Farm

Campbell’s Cross Farm is a sunflower Wellness farm that hosts events towards well-being, growing organically, food sustainability & connecting to nature. There are many props for unique backgrounds for a great family photo: the Golden Couch, LOVE sign, Sunflower Wall, Red Bike, Vintage Bathtub, & 1940 Black Beauty Truck. The farm also offers a variety of classes including yoga, mom & daughter yoga, meditation walks, herb walks, women’s retreats, and more!

2. Pingle’s Farm Market

Located on 148 acres of land 5 minutes East of Oshawa, Pingle’s Farm Market is famous in the Durham region for holding everything from Drive-in movies to fun farm activities, including u-picks. Alongside the ‘classic’ yellow sunflower that grows to about 5ft tall, they also have many other varieties that showcase a beautiful spectrum of sizes & colours! They also have a giant corn maze.

This farm is spread over 165 acres of countryside. You can pick your berries, currants, dahlias and apples, and sweet corn. They offer walking trails, wagon rides, and many other u-pick be. Andrew’s has a large sunflower patch, which they call the Sunflower Kingdom. You can also pick your sunflower.

The apple orchard in Ontario grows more than just apples. There are hundreds to thousands of beautiful sunflowers on the farm as well. The farm uses other planting techniques to make the blooming time of sunflowers longer for your satisfaction. 2. Howell’s Farm

Over 100,000 blooms can be seen throughout the sunflower field providing the perfect photo op. After exploring the sunflowers come and visit Beer & Wine Garden for a drink and food. Tickets for entry will be sold in 15 minute intervals in order to space everyone out so you can enter the farm in a socially distanced fashion. Once you are in the field there is 86,000 square feet of space to spread out and enjoy the flowers at your leisure.
