Things to Do in Lethbridge

The fourth-largest city in Alberta, Lethbridge is the location of the only University south of Calgary and is the centre for all of Southern Alberta. Lethbridge is also a fantastic place to visit, it is a beautiful city with plenty of things to do. Nikka Yuko Japanese Gardens

The Nikka Yuko Japanese Gardens is an oasis of tranquillity. From the first blossoms of spring to the last leaves of autumn, people who walk through the gardens will be left with a sense of peace and relaxation.

Henderson Lake Park

Henderson Lake Park is one of Lethbridge’s premier parks. There is a man made lake, plenty of mature trees, gardens, picnic areas and shelters, 3 playgrounds and over 7 km of pathways which include historical markers and displays. Annual events that happen at the park include Canada Day celebrations and the Lethbridge Rotary Dragon Boat Festival. Website

Indian Battle Park

Indian Battle Park is located in the Oldman River Valley. There are 5 km of river bottom trail systems, a natural playground, and plenty of picnic areas, some that must be booked in advance. Key historical features of the area include Medicine Stone, Coal Banks Kiosk, information on the Incline Railway, and a High Level Bridge information plaque. Website

Nicholas Sheran Park

Nicholas Sheran Park is an ideal place to go fishing, have a picnic, or otherwise enjoy the natural beauty of Lethbridge.  There are around 7 km of paved and shale trails throughout the park, outdoor fitness equipment, a large playground that is train and coal mine themed, the longest Disc Golf Course in Canada, and even an edible orchard! Website

Pavan Park

Pavan Park is the only park within Lethbridge that allows horseback riding. With over 10 km of trails, and 125 hectares of natural park it is a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of city life. Elizabeth Hall Wetlands

Elizabeth Hall Wetlands is a Nature Reserve perfect for those who love bird watching and wildlife. One of the most rustically beautiful parks in the city, the wetlands are a great spot for walking, bird watching, and photography. Patrons can follow the trails on a self guided tour of the wetlands, and even check out the bird blind. Website

Brewery Gardens

Walking trails and scenic views are the attractions at Brewery Gardens. Originally a disposal site for used coal ashes, it now has a beautiful seasonal garden display complete with multiple waterfalls. Visitors of Brewery Gardens have a clear view of the historic High Level Bridge and the Number 8 Coal mine.

Sunridge Park

Sunridge Park is a great place to learn about the wetlands. While there patrons are also able to enjoy an amazing playground, paved trails, bridges, fountains, and a waterfall. During the winter this is a fantastic location for tobogganing. Website

Popson Park

A combination of flat land and coulees, with Oldman river bordering two sides of the park, Popson Park is a beautiful location for a picnic, as well as boating and fishing opportunities. Also located within the park are the Lethbridge Astronomy Society and Oldman River Observatory. This is also the location of the only off leash dog park in western Lethbridge.

Alexander Wilderness Park

Only accessible by a 2.5 km walking trail, this tranquil preservation area is a beautiful place for a private picnic or romantic stroll through nature. One side of the park is sheltered by coulee cliffs and the other side is bordered by Oldman River. Once inside the park visitors can choose to go on a casual stroll or hike the vigorous trails throughout the park.

Bull Trail Park

This historical park is the site of the last great Indian Battle between the Cree and Blackfoot Tribes. Now, the park is home to a trail system that covers the west side of the Oldman River. There are plenty of animals, waterfowl, and plant life to been seen throughout the park.
