Two hotels on Vancouver Island, a bed and breakfast in Niagara-on-the-Lake and a Greek restaurant in Banff have earned places among the world’s best in Tripadvisor’s 2026 Travellers’ Choice Best of the Best Awards.

The four Canadian properties appear across five international rankings, with one Alberta restaurant earning recognition in two different categories.
Tripadvisor bases its annual awards on reviews and ratings collected from travellers over a 12-month period. The Best of the Best designation is reserved for fewer than 1% of the platform’s eight million listings.
Canadian Hotels Among the World’s Best
Abigail’s Hotel in Victoria, British Columbia, ranks seventh among the world’s top hotels.
The adults-only property has just 30 rooms and occupies a Tudor-style mansion dating back to the 1930s. Located near Victoria’s Inner Harbour, it combines historic architecture with modern accommodations. Tripadvisor highlights its gourmet breakfasts, attentive service and comfortable rooms.
Another Vancouver Island property, Wickaninnish Inn in Tofino, ranks fifth worldwide in the luxury hotel category.
Situated along Chesterman Beach, the inn is recognized for its oceanfront setting, woodwork, local artwork and upscale accommodations. Guests have access to spa treatments and dining at The Pointe restaurant.
Ontario also has a property on the international list.
Graystone Bed and Breakfast in Niagara-on-the-Lake ranks 17th worldwide among bed and breakfasts and inns.
The property receives recognition for its hospitality, spacious rooms, comfortable furnishings and breakfasts. Tripadvisor also highlights its quiet neighbourhood and convenient access to downtown Niagara-on-the-Lake.
Banff Restaurant Earns Two Global Rankings
Alberta’s Balkan Mediterranean Restaurant is the only Canadian establishment among these winners to appear in two international categories.
The Banff restaurant ranks fourth worldwide for vegan and vegetarian dining and 14th for casual dining.
Located on Banff Avenue, the restaurant serves Greek and Mediterranean cuisine. Tripadvisor highlights its grilled meats, fresh salads, desserts and welcoming atmosphere.
The establishment has been operating since 1984 and offers a range of vegetarian dishes alongside its other Mediterranean specialties.
