10 New Calgary Restaurants & Food Festivals to Eat Out This March

This winter was a busy time for new restaurants in Calgary. The city has welcomed new local restaurants as well as new locations of  Canadian and American restaurants.

 

One thing these places all have in common is the excitement building around each of their grand openings. Calgary has new restaurants to try this March for cocktail and wine-lovers, meat and barbecue lovers, sweet tooths, or veggie-lovers and vegans.

Francine’s

Calgary’s new wine bar, Francine’s, intends to transport guests to the streets of France. Francine’s does so through gorgeous décor, a warm vibe, and a menu of “old-world cocktails.” Their menu includes craft cocktails, as well as French fare and cuisine, served as small plates, entrees, or dessert.

Brooklyn Dumpling Shop

Brooklyn Dumpling Shop, a North American chain, offer Calgarians a unique concept for their lunch or dinner plans. The location is brand new and located in Inglewood. Their unique food concept involves wrapping all the classic diner favourites into tasty dumplings. But beyond that, they also offer a unique concept for the whole dining experience: visitors make a virtual order then receive their food and drinks from an oversized vending machine!

Pizza Maru Kitchen & Bar

Pizza Maru Kitchen & Bar celebrated their grand opening this past December in Calgary and they are already a 4.5-star Google restaurant with over 200 reviews. Part of the excitement for Pizza Maru is around the restaurant’s unique pizza style. The restaurant uses inspirations from Korean barbecue and cuisine to create memorable pizza flavours like beef bulgogi, garlic butter chicken, or the Maru Crust Specials.

This hand-pulled noodle restaurant started small in Toronto and are slowly growing across Canada. Their first stops are in Calgary and Edmonton, with the new Calgary location now open. Stop by Pacific Place Mall to try the legendary Mogouyan hand pulled noodle dishes like soup or stir fry.

Cheongdam Korean BBQ is now open in a new development in Calgary’s northwest neighbourhood of Royal Vista. Maverick’s Donuts

This Ontario-based donut shop now has two locations in southern Alberta, including one in Airdrie, and now one in the southeast Calgary neighbourhood of Copperfield. They are known for fluffy, classically flavoured and decorated donuts. However, there are a few extra options, too, like the Maverick Oreo donut. Plus, Maverick’s also offers vegan donuts!

Dickey’s BBQ chain of restaurants started over 80 years ago in Texas, and are continuing their expansion across North America to this day.
