The new restaurants opening around Edmonton this summer offer us some great variety! Around the city, we saw the opening of cafes, ice cream shops, breakfast spots, upscale dining spots, and Alberta’s first-ever mocktail-only bar.

Among Edmonton’s newest restaurants are also new patios to check out before the summer ends. These new eateries are popping up in every corner of the city, too. This includes dining hot spots like Whyte Avenue or downtown, as well as Edmonton’s newest neighbourhoods.
Stacked Pancake House
This is Edmonton’s first official pancake house, having originated out east. They offer filling breakfast, brunch, and lunch items, including their signature pancake stacks. Plus, enjoy a variety of coffee and tea drinks, a kids’ menu, and a lighter breakfast menu. Also watch for a second south Edmonton location opening soon on Gateway Boulevard.

Bernadette’s
You might be familiar with Bernadette’s already if you’ve had a meal at Pei Pei Chei Ow, the family’s first Edmonton restaurant. With this, Edmonton gets a second restaurant inspired by the family’s Indigenous heritage, and the head chef’s own two decades of culinary experience.

Common Ground Coffee
This new coffee shop recently opened in Edmonton’s southwest Windermere neighbourhood. Common Ground is an independent coffee shop dedicated to introducing specialty coffees to the neighbourhood while offering a warm and inviting spot for a cup of coffee and socializing. Enjoy the freshly brewed drinks sourced from local roasters in Edmonton and fresh pastries baked in-house.

Aloha Poke
Join Aloha Poke in celebrating the grand opening of their second Edmonton location in Garneau! The poke restaurant opened this location in early June, and offer the same delicious meals for which they are already known. However, keep your eyes open for some slight variations between the menus.

Spilt Zero Proof Ltd.
Spilt is Edmonton’s newest bar. This bar comes with a new and unique twist: they only serve mocktails! This is the first bar of its kind in Alberta and is for so much more than zero-proof cocktails; they also serve alcohol-free wine and beers.

Strom Coffee
Strom Coffee, a new café in central Edmonton, operate on the idea of “fika,” a Swedish term for slowing down, taking a break, and socializing. So enjoy your Strom Coffee within the new cozy dining space, sit back, and relax with friends or a drink. Their menu includes a fun variety of hot and cold café drinks.

Puffizza
Puffizza is a new locally owned pizza shop in south Edmonton. And while locally owned, this pizza shop originated in India, with Edmonton as its third only location across the globe! Take advantage and try the Indian-style pizza with your choice of an array of toppings.

Makchang Dodook
Within the same new strip mall as Puffizza is Edmonton’s newest Korean barbecue restaurant. Makchang Dodook recently celebrated their first Alberta opening in Calgary, and even more recently, the Edmonton location’s opening. Dine within the restaurant’s fun new space or order the authentic barbecue to take home and enjoy.

VA
Take your culinary explorations downtown this summer to experience Edmonton’s new VA café. The Italian-inspired café bring those inspirations into the food, drinks, and even the merch for sale in store. The lunch and daytime food menus offer everything from light snacks to filling paninis or pizza.

Little BonBon Ice Cream
After the great success of Yelo’d Ice Cream on Whyte Avenue, the ice cream and bakeshop have opened a smaller second location in Chinatown. In July, the neighbourhood welcomed the new Little BonBon Ice Cream (by Yelo’d). The shop has a large selection of unique flavours with the famous Yelo’d ube, or new ones like Chinatown Rocky Road, Grandpa Wong Chocolate Superfudge, or See Yow (Salted caramel, soy sauce).
