Milpa Calgary

There are new restaurants, pubs, and cafes, and these new Calgary restaurants offer cuisine for all tastes and preferences. This includes gourmet pub food, authentic Chinese and Mexican, and a few new brunch spots.

These new restaurants in the city can provide a way to try a new dish, a date-night or cocktail spot, or a place to treat the family. These locations offer every type of experience, from casual to up-scale.

Milpa

The areas around 17th Avenue in downtown Calgary contain a plethora of dining options with various types of cuisine offered. The newest addition to this stretch of restaurants in Calgary is Milpa, a Mexican small plates eatery. The bright and airy restaurant is designed after the owner’s childhood home in Mexico, and the dishes offer a flavourful blend of Mexican spice. Milpa have also curated a list of one-of-a-kind feature cocktails to pair with your snacks.

Primary Colours

The menu from Calgary’s new Primary Colours gives you an option between trying their brunch or their dinner items. Although, it wouldn’t hurt to make two trips and try both meals from Primary Colours. For brunch, expect small and savoury snacks, classic breakfast entrees, toast four different ways, and fresh-baked pastries. Their dinner menu includes indulgent entrée options like pasta, grilled beef, mushroom steak, and more.

Clay Pot Asian Food Kitchen

The Clay Pot & Asian Food Kitchen is now open in Calgary, and promise a refined experience for enjoying the best of Asian cuisine. You can try it in their new restaurant, as take-out, or have the Clay Pot experience delivered to your door. And if you dine in, the traditional Chinese cuisine will be delivered to your table by a friendly robot!

Egg & Spoon

Macleod Trail’s new Egg & Spoon is of course a brand new place to enjoy breakfast in Calgary. Plus, they have a lunch and dessert menu, too. The breakfast items offer some new takes on classic dishes, like the Huevos Nachos, Salmon & Brie Bread Pudding, or Gourmet Deviled Eggs. We recommend any of their egg dishes, as all eggs served at the restaurant are guaranteed to be free-range.

Jam’s Diner

In Jam’s Diner, you may find a new breakfast spot, a new dinner spot, or both! Jam’s has a full menu for the entire day and also includes desserts, snacks, and craft cocktails. Jam’s focuses on keeping as much of the cooking and baking in-house as possible, so you can enjoy house-smoked meats, handmade jam on your toast, and no refined sugars!

Poutinarama

The newest family-owned and operated take-out place in Calgary is a celebration of Canada’s most famous cuisine: the poutine. Poutinarama pride themselves on offering authentic Montreal-style poutine (no shredded cheese here!) and offer it in eight different flavours. Their menu includes many other mouth-watering snacks like burgers, hot dogs, and their Montreal Smoked Meat sandwiches.

Hitman’s Bar

The new Hitman’s Bar in Calgary has unique connections to the city. We say unique as Hitman’s is owned by a local celebrity! Bret “Hitman” Hart, a former professional wrestler. Hitman’s has a sports bar atmosphere, and is now accepting group reservations for Wrestlemania on April 1-2.

New Camp Bar & Table

New Camp Bar & Table is not exactly new as they opened last March, but it gives southwest Calgary a newish and hip hangout place. Their menu offers casual fare but in a gourmet manner. This includes items like handhelds, flatbreads, bar snacks, and appetizers.
