A Person who Travelled to Las Vegas is the Latest Case of Novel Coronavirus in Ontario

Ontario’s Ministry of Health spokeswoman has said that there is a new case of novel coronavirus in the province and that the person had recently travelled to Las Vegas.

This is the 24th case of COVID-19 in Ontario. The man in his 40s returned from Las Vegas, Nevada on February 28 and was seen by medical staff at Toronto Western Hospital. He was assessed and discharged, and he is at home where he remains in self-isolation with minimal contact with others.

Update: Toronto Public Health has announced that he travelled on the TTC on Mon., Mar. 2, Tues., Mar. 3 and Wed., Mar. 4., while experiencing symptoms.

Yesterday, British Columbia reported 8 new cases with one apparent case of community spread of COVID-19. Alberta also reported the province’s first case of COVID-19 on a woman who recently returned from travel on board a Grand Princess cruise ship in California.

129 Canadians who were on the Diamond Princess Cruise Ship and who were subjected to a 14-day quarantine period at the NAV CENTRE in Cornwall, Ontario were released from quarantine today. All these individuals remained asymptomatic for COVID-19 throughout the 14-day quarantine period.

Current Scenario in Canada

Currently in Canada, the total positive COVID-19 stands at 49, with 21 cases in British Columbia, 1 in Alberta, 24 in Ontario and 3 in Quebec. Of these 49, 8 cases, 4 each in B.C. and Ontario were fully resolved, with each of those patients having two consecutive negative tests at least 24 hours apart.
