Alberta reported 817 new COVID-19 cases on August 19th, the highest daily case count recorded since May 19, 2021
Currently, there are 6,367 active cases across Alberta, an increase of 456 from yesterday. There were 196 people being treated in hospital for COVID with 43 in intensive care units. The positivity rate was 7.2 per cent.
Alberta also reported four more deaths.

The R value, also known as the reproduction number, describes whether cases are currently increasing, decreasing or staying the same was 1.25 (with a confidence interval of 1.2-1.31) as of August 8th.

81.59% of the new cases are unvaccinated or partially against COVID-19. Of the 198 in the hospital and treated for COVID-19, 13.13% are fully vaccinated.
