Firehouse Subs is opening its 200th Canadian location at 922 85 Street SW, #225, and the chain is marking the milestone by giving a free medium Hook & Ladder sub to the first 200 guests through the doors.
The giveaway takes place on Sept. 10, 2026, so if you want one of the free subs, getting there early may be your best move. The restaurant is also holding an on-site contest for Calgary Flames tickets as part of the grand opening.
Firehouse Subs was founded in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1994 by two former firefighting brothers. The company also supports first responders through its public safety foundations.
In Canada, the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has awarded 369 grants worth more than $6.3 million in lifesaving equipment funded for first responders across Canada.
As part of the 200th restaurant celebration, Firehouse Subs is also donating $54,389 to the Redwood Meadows Fire Station, which suffered a devastating station fire at the end of 2025. The funding will help replace hydrant-related equipment that was lost in the fire.
If you visit a Firehouse Subs location, you can also support the foundation by buying a recycled five-gallon pickle bucket for a $3 donation, giving spare change at the register or rounding up your bill.
The Calgary opening is also a significant milestone as Firehouse Subs has doubled its Canadian footprint since opening its 100th restaurant in Alberta in 2024.
