The city of Calgary has announced that the City is lifting the State of Local Emergency from Friday, June 12, 12:01 a.m.

Calgary Recreation is also preparing to re-open indoor City-operated recreation facilities for public use as Alberta is moving to Stage 2 of reopening strategy allowing indoor recreation centres, libraries, fitness centres, sports amenities, gyms, pools and arenas to reopen with restrictions on June 12th. The City has not announced any specific dates but said locations, dates, hours of operation and available amenities, programs and services will be shared with Calgarians as information becomes available.

The Glenmore Reservoir will re-open for recreational use on June 15.

The City has painted 50 temporary circles measuring three metres in diameter and spaced three metres apart using environmental, kid and pet-friendly paint on the grass in four regional parks –Bowness, Riley, Prince’s Island and North Glenmore Parks –  to help Calgarians make physical distancing easy while enjoying public parks.  The City is expecting the circles to last one to two weeks depending on demand/usage of the site, grass cutting, and wear and tear.  The city plans to add these circles in other parks if they are effective in physical distancing.
