Chick-fil-A is opening a new location in St. Albert on May 21, adding to its growing footprint in Alberta.
The restaurant, Chick-fil-A East Village, will be located at 815 St. Albert Trail and operated by local franchisee Samuel Messick. The site is expected to employ between 85 and 95 staff, offering dine-in, drive-thru and takeout service from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
Opening day will include a community-focused promotion. Customers wearing cow-themed outfits, from full costumes to smaller accessories, can receive a free entrée as part of the brand’s “Moo-ve In Party,” a nod to its long-running advertising campaign.
The company is also marking the opening with a $25,000 donation to hunger-relief efforts through Second Harvest. The funds will support partner organizations in the Edmonton area. Since 2020, Chick-fil-A has contributed about C$2 million to similar initiatives through the same organization.
The new location will participate in the company’s Shared Table program, which redistributes surplus food to local shelters, soup kitchens and food banks. The program has helped provide more than 232,000 meals across Canada.
Messick, who grew up in Camrose and previously worked in the refrigerated trucking industry, described the opening as a return to the region. He said the restaurant is intended to serve not just as a place to eat, but as a gathering spot within the community.

What: Locally owned and operated by Samuel Messick, Chick-fil-A East Village will be the brand’s newest location to open in Alberta.
Those who dress in cow attire (a full cow costume or a simple cow-spotted accessory) on opening day can redeem the offer of one free entrée inside the restaurant or in the drive-thru. Offer options are a Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich, Spicy Chicken Sandwich, 8-ct Chick-fil-A Nuggets, 8-ct Grilled Nuggets or 5-ct Nugget Kid’s Meal. The offer is limited to one per person in cow attire.
