On Saturday, July 1, get ready for a science-fueled fun day for all, as you celebrate the Science Centre’s 39th birthday and welcome in Constance Scarlett as the New President and CEO.

Raise your beakers and join in the science fun with rocket launches, cake eating, liquid nitrogen ice cream and so much more. Plus, walk or ride in a golf cart to the Queen Elizabeth II Planetarium for a sneak peek at this historical landmark.

At 11:30 a.m., help the Science Centre’s new President & CEO send numerous rockets skyward!

 

MEET AND GREET WITH THE NEW CEO
Get a chance to meet TELUS World of Science – Edmonton’s new President and CEO, Constance Scarlett, at the following events:

– 11:30 a.m. Outdoor Rocket Launch

– 12:00 p.m. Cake Cutting

LIQUID NITROGEN BIRTHDAY ICE CREAM
Enjoy a science demonstration and a tasty treat at the Syncrude Science Stage at 1:00 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.! Maple flavoured with sprinkles!

CHALK ROCKETS – Free outdoor activity
From 12:00 p.m.. to 3:00 p.m., you’ll have a BLAST making some creative art outside using a film canister, food colouring, and science!

 

THE SCIENCE OF FIREWORKS
At 2:00 p.m. on the Syncrude Science Stage, learn how fireworks are made possible and witness a mini illuminating display for yourself!

TEAM CANADA ROBOTICS DEMONSTRATION – Free outdoor activity
From 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the Science Centre’s youth robotics team will be showing off their skills with displays and demonstrations of their award-winning robot. Find out how they built it, how it works, and even take a stab at controlling some of their robots yourself!

CHROMATOGRAPHY FIREWORKS
Explore the chemistry of ink and create spectacular fireworks decorations! 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Health Zone.

BIRTHDAY CAKE – Free outdoor activity
At 12:00 p.m., enjoy a piece of FREE birthday cake!

QUEEN ELIZABETH PLANETARIUM (QEP) – Free outdoor activity
Between 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., be one of the first to get a sneak peek at the re-imagined QEP with a FREE tour of this historical treasure.

DIY PARTY HATS
Make your own really cool party hat from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in The Science Garage!

GOOSECHASE
Take part in a Digital Scavenger Hunt in The Art of the Brick exhibition with new Science Centre birthday questions added!
