From January 26th to 28th, the festival promises a winter celebration filled with live ice carving, entertainment, and more.

The festival kicks off on Friday, January 26th, with an Ice Carving Workshop at Alderney Landing, offering a unique opportunity to witness ice sculptor Richard Chiasson in action. Carving demonstrations and hands-on experiences await visitors.

Throughout the festival, various artists, including Richard Chiasson, Joel “Swamp Bear” Palmer, Rob Milner, Liam Tromans, and Chandana Kapila, will create breathtaking ice sculptures in locations such as the MacLeod Lorway Sculpture Garden and King’s Wharf.

A highlight of the festival is the Fire Performances by Lumen Lux and Mizz. Anthrope of Luminosity Circus, captivating audiences with spectacular shows at Alderney Landing. Meanwhile, the Youth Showcase, hosted by Katie Kelly, will showcase young talent at Alderney Landing Rotunda.

On Saturday, January 27th, the festival hosts a Street Party on Portland Street. Motor vehicle traffic will be temporarily closed, allowing for live ice carving, street games, music, and more. Talented carvers will be working their magic along Portland Street, at MacLeod Lorway Sculpture Garden, and at Alderney Landing.

The JUNO Awards Stage will feature performances by Swee, Douvet, Troy Power, Sirreal, and Jules Worth, adding to the entertainment lineup.

Street games and activities, including giant Jenga and Connect 4, will keep attendees entertained. And, for the kids, Sesame Street’s Elmo and Cookie Monster will make special appearances at Alderney Landing Theatre.

Sunday, January 28th, offers a chance to view the completed ice sculptures at various locations around Dartmouth, including the MacLeod Lorway Sculpture Garden and East Coast Credit Union. The festival also hosts an Artisan Market at Alderney Landing and more live music and entertainment.

As a bonus, festival-goers can enjoy curling on an inflatable Street Curling Rink and participate in games and activities at the Decathlon Fun Zone.

Don’t miss this opportunity to experience the charm of the Downtown Dartmouth Ice Festival and witness the creativity of talented ice artists in a winter wonderland setting. It’s a celebration of local talent and the joy of winter, and it’s sure to be a memorable event for all ages.
