Environment Canada Issues Heat Warning for GTA & Southwestern Ontario

imageEnvironment Canada has issued a heat warning for Greater Toronto Area & southwestern Ontario. The hot weather is expected to last through Wednesday.

Environment Canada issues heat warnings when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.

 

Warnings are in effect for Hamilton, Toronto, Dufferin – Innisfil, Dunnville – Caledonia – Haldimand, Elgin, Halton – Peel, Huron – Perth, London – Middlesex, Niagara, Oxford – Brant, Sarnia – Lambton, Simcoe – Delhi – Norfolk, Waterloo – Wellington, Windsor – Essex – Chatham-Kent, York – Durham regions.

According to Environment Canada, daytime temperatures near 30 are expected this afternoon and temperatures are forecast to be slightly higher Tuesday and Wednesday. Humidex values in the mid to upper thirties are also expected. There may be some relief near the lakeshores.

Environment Canada is reminding those in the region to drink plenty of water even before you feel thirsty and stay in a cool place and not to leave people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
