Winter activities
Skiing is an enjoyable way to take in the winter scenery and a great activity for all ages. There are over 250 km of groomed trails for classic and skate skiing in Kelowna. Big White Ski Resort is a premier skiing destination where you can enjoy cross country skiing, ice climbing, dog sledding, snowshoeing, and more fun winter activities.
For easy fun winter, sports try snowshoeing. This is an excellent way to exercise in winter and a great way to enjoy nature’s beauty. There are many snowshoe trails you can check out in Kelowna. If you haven’t snowshoed the Myra Canyon Trestles, Check it out! It is an extraordinary experience during the winter season. You can also explore the trails developed by Telemark Nordic Club. The Crystal Mountain Snowshoe Trail boasts of several spectacular lookouts. Myra Canyon Trestles Trail is great for snowshoeing if you want o check it out.
Skating is a popular winter activity and you can enjoy a wonderful time at the skating rink at Stuart Park or alongside Okanagan Lake.
Who wants to bo tobogganing? You might already know the more popular ones. Check out Jack Robertson Memorial Park— in Glenmore, Curlew Park in Kettle Valley, the hills at Hudson Road Elementary in West Kelowna, or the hills at Myra-Bellevue Provincial Park. Myra Canyon Trestles Trail is great for snowshoeing if you want o check it out.
The beauty of winter can best be enjoyed by a walk. Whether you take a brisk walk or a relaxed one, what is certain is that you will have a wonderful time enjoying the open air. Pack a picnic and plan to spend an afternoon outside playing games with your loved ones.
Knox Mountain Park has a network of trails with varying lengths and difficulties that offers stunning winter vistas.
If you enjoy the magic of a frozen waterfall, you can check out one of the many waterfalls at Fintry Provincial Park, the Hardy Falls, the frozen Bear Creek Falls, or the Crawford Falls/Canyon Falls Park.
Find hidden treasures and discover the many geocaches located throughout the region. This family-friendly activity uses a mobile app or a GPS device. This is also a fun way to interact with nature while getting mild exercise and explore new areas.
Birding is a fun activity to do in winter. What are the popular winter birds that you can spot? Can you notice any winter adaptation changes in them? Grab a pair of binoculars, download a bird ID app, and try to name all the birds that you can spot. Do a Christmas Bird Count. If you don’t want to venture outside do an unofficial count of the birds that visit your bird feeder.

Plan to visit attractions in and around Kelowna. Don’t miss Kelowna Farmers and Crafters Market for a taste of local culture, and explore the city’s history at the Okanagan Heritage Museum and Okanagan Wine & Orchard Museum. Additionally, you can delve into military history at the Okanagan Military Museum and appreciate local art at the Kelowna Art Gallery, making for a well-rounded visit to this vibrant city.
