There are 18 Alberta Approved Farmers’ Markets in Edmonton Area in 2021. In addition to maintaining stringent quality standards, 80% of Alberta Approved Farmers’ Markets offering should meet ‘make it, bake it, grow it’ criteria and should be by a not-for-profit community group.

Edmonton Downtown Farmers’ Market

Shopping downtown and supporting local is a perfect way to spend an Edmonton afternoon. The market created from the old GWG Building is one of the popular downtown shopping destinations where you can stock up on fresh fruits and vegetables, locally farmed meats, and handmade goods.

Miller Crossing Farmers’ Market

You can shop up to 50 different local vendors at Edmonton’s northeast farmers’ market. Every Saturday, Miller Crossing hosts vendors selling BC fruits, fresh vegetables, butchered meats, honey, preserves, cosmetics and bath/body products, and many food vendors now offer pre-packaged meals. Their Canteen also gives you the chance to grab a bite to eat while you shop.

Old Strathcona Farmers Market

 

Just north of Whyte Ave., off Gateway Blvd., there is a colourful section of 83rd which leads to the entrances of the OSFM. On a warm day, there are typically food trucks and vendors spilling out of the Old Bus Barn and onto the sidewalks. Even if just to browse, the OSFM and surrounding area are perfect summer afternoon destinations.

Callingwood Farmers’ Market

Beginning this month, you can shop the Callingwood area’s two markets once a week: the Grande Market is held Sundays while the Mini Market is held on Wednesdays. Both markets also offer a marketplace pickup option for online orders.

Southwest Edmonton Farmers’ Market

The Terwillegar area market is another offering a curbside pickup program, so you can avoid crowds and still benefit from locally sourced goods and food. The large list of vendors include farmers, bakers, cooks, distillers and brewers, and artists and artisans.

The Orchards Community Farmers’ Market

This smaller southside market is growing larger each year and features a wide assortment of different vendors. Shop for art, meats, pet supplies, fresh-baked goods, or have bring your knife set for a sharpen!

Beverly Towne Farmers’ Market

The outdoor Beverly Towne Farmers’ Market pops up each summer and fall in the Riverview Crossing Mall parking lot. For almost 20 years, this Alberta approved market has offered a huge array of local food like produce, oven baked goods, and fresh kettle corn. You can also shop an assortment of the neighbourhood’s craftiest and most creative entrepreneurs and their crafts, jewellery, oils, and more.

Edmonton South East Farmers’ Market

This east Edmonton shopping centre transforms from mall to market each Saturday morning and afternoon- a market where you can get fresh produce, handmade clothing and crafts, home décor, meats, and various other homemade goodies. It is year-round, so you can visit any Saturday throughout the year.

124 Grand Market

While aiming to be the ‘grandest’ market in Edmonton, the 124 market offers two days filled with multiple blocks worth of vendors set up on the street. You’ll encounter all sorts of goods along the market’s route like alcohol, fresh fruit and vegetables, local meats, and artisan crafts. The market also features a number of fresh food truck options.

Bountiful Farmers’ Market

This year-round indoor market appears more like a small mall but contains only local vendors. There is a large seating and eating area from where you can enjoy the fresh foods, and large aisles of producers from all over the region for you to wander. You’ll find soups, pizzas, meats, produce, baked goods, vegan foods, clothing, and home décor.

This summer evening market features makers and producers from Fort Saskatchewan and many of its surrounding regions. Along with handmade goodies, local fruits, veggies, and meats, you’ll also find a large assortment of food trucks.

Sherwood Park Farmers’ Market

This is one of Sherwood Park’s two year-round Alberta Approved markets and operates out of the Centre in the Park on Festival Way. Park shoppers have enjoyed this farmers’ market for over 45 years, and you can get anything from fresh food to handmade soaps and clothing, to fresh cut flowers and potting plants.

From May until September, the Morinville Farmers’ Market is held outside of the Rendez-vous Centre, and when it gets colder the market moves inside. Along with local vendor booths offering produce, handmade crafts, meats, and more, the market also features a few food trucks.

The Devon summer and fall Farmers’ Market is near the Lions Campground in the Community Centre. Vendors are setup both indoors and outdoors, and offer a variety of produce, meats, preserves, and baked goods from local makers.

Leduc Farmers’ Market

The Leduc Farmers’ Market is officially open this month so you can get your local shopping done on Thursday or Saturday afternoons. The outdoor market has stood in Leduc for over 40 years and has since grown to a large list of Leduc creators and entrepreneurs.
