Feb 16th: Loblaws Eliminating Single-Use Plastic Shopping Bags at Stores Across Alberta & B.C

You will need to take your own shopping bags to Loblaws-owned stores starting tomorrow as the company will be removing single-use plastic shopping bags from its stores across Alberta and B.C.

Single-use plastic shopping bags will not be available at Real Canadian Superstore, Your Independent Grocer, Real Canadian Liquor Store, Extra Foods and PC Express stores starting February 16th.

 

Though alternatives such as black PC reusable bags and PC reusable totes will be available for purchase at checkout lanes, Loblaws is encouraging customers to bring their own bags while shopping at their stores

Single-use plastics ban came into effect in Canada last December with the manufacture and import for sale of single-use bags in Canada taking effect last Dember. While many stores still give out checkout bags which remain in stock, the sale of such bags which be prohibited from December 20th of this year.
