Calgary 
The fifth annual Alberta Day celebrations will be held with a full day of festivities in both Edmonton and Calgary on August 30, marking the establishment of the province on September 1, 1905.
Alberta Day was designed to showcase Alberta’s unique cultural and historical identity, echoing the Fair Deal Panel’s recommendations to affirm the province’s distinctiveness within Canada.
Alberta Day in Edmonton
Edmonton will host a full day of free programming at the Alberta Legislature grounds on August 30 as part of Alberta Day celebrations. night.
The celebrations begins with opening ceremony at 11 a.m. at the South Bandshell Stage, texplore Legislature Building tours, Alberta House, the Kids Zone, Marketplace, Distillery Zone and Indigenous Experience. Food trucks will operate from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., while the barbecue opens at 11:30 a.m.
If you are bringing children, the petting zoo runs until 7 p.m. You can also take a horse-drawn carriage ride between noon and 6 p.m.
Music will be spread across two stages. Main Stage performers include The Barkells, Cheremosh Ukrainian Dance Company, Travis Dolter, Maria Dunn, Mallory Chipman and Mocking Shadows. The North Stage lineup includes Rosina Cove, K4TGR4M, Téa G, Cadence Macaraeg and The Heather Network.
Country artist Jake Mathews headlines from 8 to 9 p.m. The night ends with a drone show at 9 p.m., while the site closes at 10 p.m. Times are subject to change.

Alberta Day in Calgary

Calgary’s Heritage Park will be the site of Alberta Day festivities on August 31, offering a free, full-day program of cultural performances, family activities, and live music. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Celebration Field, with registration required for tickets.
Admission to the park is free, with advance registration through the Heritage Park website highly recommended. The event runs across the Historical Village and Celebration Field, with activities beginning at 10 a.m. and the site closing at 10 p.m.
You can explore the Indigenous Experience, Alberta House, Marketplace and Kids Zone, or catch performances across multiple stages. The Main Stage lineup includes ADEOLUWA, Tryzub Ukrainian Dance Ensemble, Dempsey Bolton, Ollee Owens, John Wort Hannam, Souls in Rhythm and Side One. Matt Blais, Evie Marsten, Rome IX and Alice Jane are among the Gazebo Stage performers.
Kyle McKearney headlines from 8 to 9 p.m. His 2025 album, To The River, received three award wins from 13 nominations. He previously earned a Canadian Country Music Award for Alternative Country Album of the Year.
If you want midway rides, wristbands cost $15, while S.S. Moyie cruises are $5 each.

In addition to festivities in Calgary and Edmonton, smaller celebrations will also be held across the province in various cities and towns, from the county of Grande Prairie in the north to Duchess in the south from August 28 to September 1.
