Victoria topped the list of the 20 most generous Canadian communities for a second consecutive year. More than 19,500 donors came forward in British Columbia’s capital of roughly 92,000 residents, resulting in a donation rate of over 21%. North Vancouver and St. John’s followed closely, demonstrating that kindness is not confined to one region.
The top 20 communities were measured by the number of donors per capita. Alongside Victoria, they included places such as Vancouver, Milton, and Brampton. Canadians supported a broad range of initiatives, from assisting a North Vancouver youth with her service dog training to ensuring the Toronto Santa Claus Parade remained a cherished tradition.
Among inspiring stories, ultra-marathon runner Ryan Keeping from Halifax raised over $252,000 CAD for the Heart & Stroke Foundation by running 7,386 kilometres over 98 days. Crossing the country from Newfoundland to British Columbia, he dedicated his effort to his father, who has heart disease, and in memory of Terry Fox. “This run wasn’t about me,” Keeping said, crediting Canada’s donors for making a meaningful difference.
