The Halifax Urban Folk Festival (HUFF) is set to celebrate its 15th year from September 30 to October 6, showcasing a mix of regional talent and acclaimed artists.
This year, HUFF will spread its musical offerings across four venues. The Carleton remains the primary spot, complemented by shows at The Basement, The Marquee, and RadStorm, catering to a variety of musical tastes and audiences.
“This year we’re leaning heavily into the best local talent the region has to offer, with an emphasis on our mandate to feature singers, songs and stories,” said Mike Campbell, Artistic Director of HUFF in a news release.
The festival kicks off at The Carleton with performances by Jimmy Rankin and Leeroy Stagger on September 30. The following days at The Carleton will feature artists like Cory Tetford, Hailey Smith, Reeny, Lucy MacNeil, and Rose Cousins, who will perform two shows on October 3.
A highlight will be Adam Baldwin’s show on October 4, which includes an opening song circle with Escovedo, Stagger, and Linda McLean. Escovedo will also lead a special ensemble called The Halifax All Stars on October 5, followed by performances from Mick Davis, Mo Kenney, and Paul Murphy. The festival concludes on October 6 with Jenina MacGillivray and Tanya Davis.
Additional performances are scheduled at other venues, including Rankin MacInnis and The Broken Reeds at The Basement, NOBRO at The Marquee, and an all-ages show featuring SIGSOUR, Fluke, and The Orchids at RadStorm.
Tickets for all events are available online.
