Mike Campbell, artistic director of HUFF, said the festival’s goal remains to bring both established and emerging talent to Halifax. He said this year’s artists come from the West Coast, the Prairies, Ontario, Newfoundland, Australia and the Maritimes.

The Carleton remains the festival’s main home, with programming scheduled across the full week. Events there begin September 27 with the Youth Songwriters’ Showcase. The venue will also host True Mountain Laurel with Peter Dreams, Lloyd Spiegel, and several songwriter circles.

Three major nights at The Carleton will feature Ria Mae, Chris Murphy and Billy Raffoul backed by the Halifax All Stars Band. Each of those shows will also include opening songwriter circles with different artist combinations, including Raffoul, Murphy, Mallory Chipman, Noah Malcolm, Mat Hughes and Ria Mae.

HUFF is also expanding across other Halifax venues. The Basement at the Economy Shoe Shop will host a Songwriters’ Circle and Jam on October 1 with the Jon Hines Band, Jah’Mila, JP LeBlanc and Joce Reyome.

The Seahorse Tavern will feature Coyote, Marian, Sisters and Sorrey on October 2, followed by Bethany Fulde, Casual Cries For Help, Connor Fox and Elyse Aeryn on October 3.

The Marquee Ballroom will close out October 3 with The Million Experience, curated by MILLION VIBES.

Tickets starting at $20 are now on sale.
