The Painted Warriors is a wilderness education centre located between Calgary and Red Deer that focuses its programs on Ojibway, Cree, and Mohawk traditions.

Bimose Stories of the Forest

This guided summer walk takes you into the forest while you hear Indigenous stories and learn about the plants around you and how they can be used. Your journey ends with a traditional lunch accompanied by natural herbal teas made with the plants you just learned about!

Glamping

Painted Warriors

These tents can accommodate group of friends or large families, as well as couples, and can be enjoyed year-round! When glamping with painted warriors, dinner and breakfast are included in your stay.

Archery

Ready your bow and embark on an afternoon adventure of archery with a seasoned pro. They’ll provide a large variety of targets you can practiceout in the forested areas. The lessons and archery experiences can be booked for individuals, or bigger groups.

How much: 1hr Target Practice – $99.00 Per Person ($35pp for groups of 4-12)

Archery Field Practice – $219.00 for groups of up to 6 people

Horseback Riding

Painted Warriors

The experienced riders who work with Painted Warriors travel along the surrounding wilderness by horseback all year-round and have a strong sense of navigation- which is what they aim to share with you along your horseback riding tour. They’ll teach you how to use the land to find your way and how to connect with your horse while providing stories about the area’s history.

Painted Warriors

You can receive outdoor wilderness training and certification from two top instructors- who also happen to own Painted Warriors. Tracey Kettle and Tim Mearn are qualified Outdoor Council of Canada instructors and Painted Warriors is an accredited through the International Wilderness Guides Association. They’ll share their knowledge with you which you can then take camping, hiking, or on your own equestrian adventures.
