Destination Markham has announced this much-anticipated return, promising an even grander experience with six unique events scheduled from late January through March 2024, across various culinary hotspots in Markham.
This celebration of Markham’s cultural richness will feature performances by notable jazz artists paired with exceptional dining experiences.
“The inaugural Markham Jazzlicious WinterFest series last year brought visitors from across the GTA to Markham for these uniquely curated evenings,” says Markham’s Mayor, Frank Scarpitti in a news release.
“A program that began as an initiative to support Markham’s culinary sector during the slower season, quickly became a much talked about cultural event. Residents and visitors to the city were able to fully experience the exceptional diversity of our culinary offerings alongside performances by some of the best jazz artists Canada has to offer.”
The 2024 lineup kicks off with the two-time Juno award-winning Caity Gyorgy Quartet performing at NextDoor Restaurant, under the culinary direction of Executive Chef Clayton Khan, from January 23 to 27. This is followed by a performance by Motown, Jazz, and R&B singer George St Kitts at Rouge River Brewing Company, featuring Ian Patterson of Patterson Pizza, from February 6 to 10. Don’t forget to book a table to celebrate Valentine’s Day!
The festival continues with jazz vocalist Matt Dusk, who will present his “The Best Is Yet To Come: Dusk Sings Bennett” show at Essence of Unionville, hosted by Executive Chef Jitin Gaba, from February 20 to 24. Heather Bambrick, a prominent jazz vocalist, is set to perform at Ambiyan, known for its authentic Indian cuisine crafted by Executive Chef Harmeet Singh, from February 27 to March 2.
In the following week, from March 5 to 9, Barbra Lica, a jazz vocalist and songwriter, will take the stage at Laz Cuisine, paired with a meal prepared by Executive Chef and Owner Diakhia Lezama. The festival concludes with performances by Canadian jazz and boogie-woogie pianist Michael Kaeshammer at Draco in the Toronto Marriott Markham, alongside Executive Chef Bill Jewer, from March 20 to 22.
Markham Jazzlicious WinterFest is not just an event for jazz lovers but a celebration of Markham’s diverse cultural heritage and culinary scene. It is a collaborative effort by Destination Markham Corporation, Markham Jazz Festival, Cosmo Music, JAZZ.FM91 radio, and Flato Markham Theatre.
Tickets for this unique and culturally rich event will be available for purchase starting December 15, 2023, offering an enchanting mix of music and gastronomy for residents and visitors alike.
