The $5.45 million project includes a new all-season chairlift and improvements to the visitor lodge, with funding from the federal and provincial governments and Coopérative Républik Nature Ltée.
The federal government is contributing $2,023,562, New Brunswick is providing $395,400, and the cooperative is investing $3,035,343.
What Will Change at Mont Farlagne?
The biggest addition is a chairlift designed to operate across all four seasons.
For skiers and snowboarders, the upgrade is expected to improve winter operations, safety and service reliability. During the warmer months, the lift will support mountain biking, hiking, sporting events and other mountain activities.
The visitor lodge will also receive a substantial makeover. Plans include new windows, better insulation, upgraded mechanical systems and accessibility improvements. Flexible community spaces will be added for use throughout the year.
Edmundston Mayor Eric Marquis called the investment an important step for the community.
“Mount Farlagne has been part of Edmundston’s identity for generations,” he said.
Denise Landry-Nadeau, co-president of Coopérative Républik Nature Ltée, noted that the mountain has been bringing the community together for nearly 60 years.
