Food World Plus is preparing to open a major multicultural supermarket in Mississauga, on the corner of Hurontario and Matheson.

Food World Plus Location (CNW Group/Food World Plus)
The store at 50 Matheson Blvd East will cover 176,339 square feet on a 13.88-acre site, making it one of the largest retail projects of its kind in the GTA. It is being positioned as more than a standard grocery store, with a focus on serving Mississauga’s wide mix of communities.
The supermarket will carry ethnic groceries from cultures across Canada and around the world, including the Caribbean, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, South Asia, and East Asia. It will also include Halal and Kosher butcher counters, along with a large organic produce section featuring ingredients that shoppers often have to search for across the GTA.
Food World Plus will include fresh juice and sushi bars, a live food section, a café with hot breakfast and seating, and a dessert parlour with gluten-free, nut-free and egg-free options. Other planned features include Bloom, a fresh-flower boutique, a 1,000-foot chocolate aisle, large seafood, meat, and deli departments, a cash-and-carry wholesale wing, catering services, and an end-to-end patio.
The site will front four streets, provide 1,100 parking stalls and sit about a 15-minute walk from the future Britannia Stop on the Hazel McCallion LRT line.
Preet Dass, CEO of JDass Corp., says the store was shaped by years of listening to the community and is meant to help residents find familiar ingredients closer to home.
Food World Plus is Canadian-owned and operated by JDass Corp., a Canadian family company serving Ontario communities since 1986.
