Over the fall and early winter, a handful of new restaurants opened in the city. With those, the people of Calgary have new spots for drinks and brews, international cuisine, and desserts. We recently saw the opening of a few local chains in the city, along with a big North American chain.

Book a seat with Calgary’s newest restaurant, The 6, in to help them celebrate their one month in business. The 6 is, more specifically, a cocktail lounge and dessert bar who also serve a select menu of savoury snacks. There are a number of creative craft cocktails on the menu, as well as a list of wines, classic cocktails, and import beers.

Flirty Bird

The Flirty Bird Nashville Chicken Franchise is making its way across Alberta, with another location having opened up in Calgary this past Fall. Flirty Bird are becoming increasingly popular thanks to not only their chicken, but their hot and spicy chicken. Try it as a burger, strips, wings, or atop a poutine.

Cloud Naan

Calgary is the only place in Canada where you can get Pakistan’s Cloud Naan. The Karachi-based chain of three restaurants is now four with their new Calgary location. As their name suggests, the eatery offers naan, but in several different ways. This includes stuffed and savoury varieties.

Chipotle Mexican Grill

Chipotle’s only Alberta location recently opened in the city, to the delight of many Calgarians. The chain’s popularity is growing thanks to its use of fresh ingredients and reasonable prices. Chipotle is known across North America for tacos, burritos, burrito bowls, and handmade guacamole.

Sushi Sora

Sushi Sora opened in Calgary last fall with a large and colourful menu of fresh rolls. Some of the sushi may even look too good to eat. These rolls include varieities of maki, nigiri, sashimi, and more. And for takeout, Sushi Sora offer larger trays with 40-54 rolls in each. Visit them in downtown Calgary for the rolls, the large appetizer menu, and drinks imported from Japan.

Kelowna’s Salt & Brick restaurant now has a brand new location in Calgary. They celebrated their grand opening in mid-November and will keep Calgarians on their toes. Salt & Brick regularly update the menu so you are unlikely to get the same menu each time you visit. This is to help keep the menu items fresh with in-season ingredients.
