Toronto audiences are about to step into the dark—literally. Two of DARKFIELD’s internationally acclaimed productions, SÉANCE and FLIGHT, will open at STACKT Market on October 4, coinciding with the venue’s Art Month launch and the city’s Nuit Blanche festival.

The shows unfold inside specially designed 40-foot shipping containers, where pitch-black surroundings and 360-degree audio create an unsettlingly real alternate reality.

The UK-based company, which has drawn over 700,000 visitors worldwide and featured at Venice Film Festival, Tribeca, SXSW, and Edinburgh Fringe, is bringing its work to Canada for the first time.

Presented in partnership with Realscape Productions, the Toronto season runs until November 9. Amy Johnson of Realscape calls the productions “ideal for anyone who loves the thrill of multisensory entertainment and immersing themselves in the unknown.”

Séance, a 16-minute experience, places participants at a long table in complete darkness, blurring the line between imagination and reality. Flight, running 22 minutes, simulates a plane cabin and explores alternate realities with chilling precision. Both rely on subtle environmental effects—like turbulence cues and precisely timed soundscapes—to draw audiences into the narrative.

STACKT Market Vice President Jessica Lynch says hosting DARKFIELD fits perfectly with its mission: “DARKFIELD pushes boundaries, captivates the senses, and it’s absolutely not to be missed.”

Tickets start at $22 and are available through darkfield.live/toronto

What: DARKFIELD is a collection of multi-sensory audio experiences that unfold entirely in the dark. Using 360° binaural sound, sensory effects, and theatrical design, the works immerse audiences in strange worlds that sit just outside reality.

Shows:

  • SÉANCE: Step inside a long parlour room, take your seat at the séance table… and don’t get comfortable. In total darkness, suggestion takes hold; the boundary between imagination and reality begins to blur.
  • FLIGHT: Two realities. Two outcomes. One unsettling question: what if both are true? Inspired by the many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics, FLIGHT tracks parallel versions of the same journey. A meticulously crafted cabin environment, turbulence cues, and immersive-audio storytelling invite audiences to confront the choices (and chances) that define our paths.

Suitable for ages 13+. Ages 13–15 must be accompanied by an adult.

When: October 3 – November 9 2025

Each experience runs approximately 16 to 22 minutes. You will have approximately 10 minutes of transition time between each experience.

Where: Stackt Market, Toronto

How Much: $22 & up
