The municipality of Trent Hills has announced that the famous Ranney Gorge Suspension Bridge in Campbellford, Northumberland County will be closed effective immediately until further notice.
The municipality says there have been overwhelming crowds and reports of reckless behaviour at the bridge.
The municipality will barricade the suspension bridge approaches and entry is prohibited.
The suspension bridge hovers 30’ above the Ranney Gorge in Ferris Provincial Park. One can enjoy unobstructed views of an old tannery, Ranney Falls, and Trent River from this 300-foot-long bridge built by Royal Canadian Air Force base engineers from 8 Wing, CFB Trenton.
