Rec Room Granville to Open in Vancouver on Dec 12

Cineplex will open The Rec Room Granville on December 12 in downtown Vancouver.

The 45,000-square-foot venue, located on Granville Street, will serve as Western Canada’s flagship location, offering a variety of entertainment options across three floors.

The space merges the historic Palms Hotel and Coronet Theatre buildings with a modern development, paying homage to Granville Street’s legacy as the “Street of Lights.”

The site, formerly the Cineplex Odeon Granville 7 until 2005, incorporates local landmarks, including the iconic Art Deco Dancer sculpture prominently displayed on the exterior. According to local lore, the dancer was inspired by the architect’s wife, a performer at the historic Coronet Theatre.

The Rec Room Granville will feature over 75 amusement games, attractions such as augmented reality darts, axe throwing, mini-golf, and pool tables. It will also include a stage for live entertainment such as local bands, comedy shows, and trivia nights. This new venue has created nearly 250 jobs.

Dining options at the location are designed to cater to various tastes:

• Ground-Floor Restaurant: With a 75-seat bar and 160-seat dining area, it offers dishes like loaded nachos, jumbo wings, and a chocolate donut sundae alongside the Peach Don’t Kill My Vibe cocktail tower.

• The Palms: Inspired by the Palms Hotel, this coastal-themed bar features cabana-style seating and a menu including spiced jackfruit tacos and Clyde’s habanero margarita. A mural by local artists, The WKNDRs, adds to the aesthetic.
• The Shed: A quick-service option on the second floor, serving snacks like Buffalo chicken poutine and Korean corn dogs.

The Rec Room is positioned as Canada’s leading ‘Eats & Entertainment’ destination, combining dining, gaming, and live performances, making it a versatile spot for casual outings, corporate events, and private parties.
