If you are visiting at night, you can explore the Richmond Green Heritage Walkway and the Park, which will be aglow with Christmas lights until early January as part of Richmond Hill’s Winter Lights, enhancing the experience.

Admission is free and requires no prior registration, making it an accessible option for a delightful winter activity.

For safety and enjoyment, the town of Richmond Hill has specific guidelines. Skaters must bring their own skates as rentals and sharpening services are unavailable. It’s mandatory for everyone on the ice to wear skates, and skates are recommended when off the ice. Children aged nine and under require a guardian aged 14 or older on the ice with them. The use of CSA-approved helmets is compulsory for children aged five and under and is strongly recommended for all other skaters.

To maintain a safe environment, the trail requires all skaters to travel in the same direction. Activities such as hockey, speed skating, figure skating, skating backwards, horseplay, or carrying children on the ice are prohibited for safety reasons. Skating aids and wheelchairs are welcome on the ice, but accompanying persons must wear skates.

Skaters should be aware that ice resurfacing happens periodically throughout the day. During these times, they will be asked to temporarily clear the ice to allow for maintenance.
