This Saturday, dig into the excitement and showcase your inner builder at the annual Cobourg Sandcastle Festival.
Families, businesses, and individuals of all ages are invited to showcase their artistic skills by crafting sand sculptures or castles for a chance to win enticing cash prizes at the famous Cobourg Beach.
Even if building isn’t your forte, don’t miss the chance to witness the artistry of Master Sculptors at work, including renowned professionals such as Rachelle and Michel, who discovered their passion for sand art 19 years ago. Michel Lepire mentored them, helping them secure numerous awards. Other notable sculptors include Tanya Kastl, a consistent participant at the Cobourg Sandcastle Festival, and Rodney Watson, an artist from Kingston recognized for his rock/metal sculptures.
Sandi “Castle” Stirling, a veteran sand artist since 1995, will also be sculpting. Her accomplishments span across competitions in Canada and the USA, and she’s also known for her stint on CBC’s “Race Against the Tide.” Off the beach, Sandi supports her daughter’s juice bar business in Port Dover.
The festival promises a day filled with entertainment and activities. From snapping pictures of the Master Sculptors, soaking in the tunes spun by Wee b Chillun DJ services, to exploring the vibrant Farmers’ Market, there’s something for everyone. The inflatable park guarantees endless fun for both young and old, so remember to bring sunglasses, a hat, and sunscreen to stay comfortable throughout the day.
As the sun sets, the festivities continue. Pack your snacks, beach chairs, blankets, and bug spray to settle in for a movie night at Victoria Park’s Bandshell. The feature presentation, “The Sandlot,” will be screened on an inflatable big screen, providing a perfect way to unwind after a day of creative and playful endeavors.

Where: Cobourg Beach, 138 Division St, Cobourg
Free shuttles will be running on August 12 from 9am to 6pm from the Northumberland Mall and Cobourg Community Centre to Cobourg Beach. There is free parking at both parking locations.
