2024 Toronto Tamil Fest: What to Expect at Canada’s Largest Tamil Celebration This Weekend

Discover a different South Asian culture this weekend, including its traditions and food at the Tamil Fest.

Tamil Fest

The Tamil festival will be hosted by the Canadian Tamil Congress on August 24th and 25th. This is the largest Tamil street festival which will promote diversity by sharing the rich Tamilian culture, its traditional activities and delicious Tamil food with everyone.

The Canadian Tamil Congress aims to develop a sense of understanding between the Tamil community and other communities in Canada. Tamil Festival has been a success for the past nine years.

Last year’s Tamil Fest attracted over 275,000 attendees,  significantly higher than the inaugural 2015 festival, which attracted a crowd of over 90,000 people in just a 2-day period. This year promises to be even bigger and better. It is now considered the most significant event in the history of East Toronto.

Join them for two days of unlimited entertainment and fun for the whole family. They have over 100 performers, both local and international artists, who will be displaying their unique talents. These talented individuals are of all ages. You can enjoy Tamil music, singing, and dancing like in Bharatanatyam.

You can enjoy performances by artists like  Tameera Shankar, Ananthakumar, Kandappu Jeyantha, Janani and many more!

You will also see Tamil displays and exhibits. You can buy traditional crafts and jewelry from vendors at the venue.

They have also arranged AdventureMania inflatables and many other games for kids.

Around 19 food vendors will be selling a variety of tasty Tamil dishes. You can get everything here, from sweet and savoury to spicy dishes. There are several ice cream vendors too at the event.

This is a free event, so admission tickets are not required.

Tamil Fest will take place at Markham Road from Passmore Ave to McNicoll Ave, Toronto.
