Calgary Expo organizers has announced 2020 Calgary Comic & Entertainment Expo will not be taking place.

The festival which was supposed to take place on April 23-26 was postponed to July 17 to 19, 2020 due to COVID-19.

Now the organisers have made the difficult decision to cancel the Expo as it became clear that that July is not a viable option.

Expo organisers released a statement saying, “When we postponed the April show to July, we believed that would be enough time for things to settle down. We have been in touch with community partners, and despite all of our efforts and collaboration, it has become clear that July is not a viable option. We understand how important this show is to so many people and we’re grateful for the fierce passion we have seen from community partners and online.

“You deserve a celebration worthy of the time that goes into your booths, cosplay, and travels. This year, that is unfortunately not possible. If you purchased a ticket for the show, you will be receiving a refund. You do not need to take any action. ”

Although circumstances keep us from being together in person, we’re working on building virtual meetups to bring you the fan-tastic experience at home. Please keep an eye on our channels in the coming week. ”

As of now, 2021 Calgary Expo will be held on April 22-25, 2021.

Edmonton Folk Festival has also cancelled its 2020 Edition.
