Theatre Nova Scotia’s Exciting Lineup For a Summer of Captivating Performances

With an array of productions spanning various genres and venues, Theatre Nova Scotia’s summer program promises to captivate audiences and celebrate the vibrant theatre scene in Nova Scotia.

Until September 2023, theatregoers in Nova Scotia can indulge in a range of shows, including newly created plays, classics, adaptations of literature, musicals, and performances tailored for young audiences.

The summer schedule features productions at nine professional theatres across Nova Scotia.

The Highland Arts Theatre in Sydney will kick off the season with “The Best of Broadway” from June 19 to 22.

Theatre Baddeck will present “Half-Cracked: The Legend of Sissy Mary” from July 6 to August 6, followed by “The Hydrofoil Mystery” from August 18 to September 24.

Shakespeare by the Sea in Halifax will captivate audiences with performances of “Pinocchio” from July 8 to September 2, “Romeo & Juliet” from July 19 to September 1, and “The Unrehearsed Dream” on September 3.

Other highlights include Neptune Theatre in Halifax with “Wannabe: The Return of the Spice Girls” (July 20-22), “The Argyle Street Kitchen Party” (August 1-27), and “The Play That Goes Wrong” (September 26-October 22).

Two Planks and a Passion in Ross Creek will stage “Wind in the Willows” and “Antigone by Fire” from June 28 to August 19. Mulgrave Road Theatre in Guysborough will showcase “New in Town” (July 15) and “Watch Over Me” (July 27-29), while Ship’s Company Theatre in Parrsboro presents “Crypthand” (July 8-16), “Downed Hearts” (August 15-27), and “Long-Distance Relationships for Mythical Times” (August 31-September 3).

Additionally, Chester Legion in Chester will feature “Every Brilliant Thing” until July 21, and Festival Antigonish Summer Theatre in Antigonish will present “The New Canadian Curling Club” (July 5-21), “The Adventures of the Little Girl and the Wind” (July 27-August 5), and “Murder For Two” (August 11-26).
