Employers across Atlantic Canada are accelerating efforts to adopt forward-thinking workplace programs as they compete for talent on a national level.
This year’s Atlantic Canada’s Top Employers list, released by Mediacorp Canada Inc., highlights organizations making standout improvements in employee support, especially in areas like mental health and family benefits.
Kristina Leung, managing editor at Mediacorp, noted a shift from the region’s traditionally cautious approach. “Instead of waiting to see how programs perform elsewhere, employers are now acting quickly to implement changes that help employees both on the job and at home,” she said.
The 2025 list reflects a growing urgency to retain workers following pandemic-driven population growth in the region. To stay competitive, companies are benchmarking against national standards and introducing policies that support work-life balance.
Now in its 16th year, the annual competition evaluates employers from Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and New Brunswick. Winners are selected based on eight long-standing criteria, including workplace culture, compensation, vacation policies, communication, and community engagement.
