Masonic Temple, St. John’s
The Masonic Temple was built over a hundred years ago, and is known to be the home of the Spirit of Newfoundland. There are several stories floating around the city of strange happenings that have occurred in the temple. The caretaker claims that he has seen a person in the reflection of his phone, who disappeared into thin air the second that he looked up.

LSPU Hall, St. John’s
The LSPU Hall is the place to be if you want to attend a show, but you may not want to go alone because it is a well-known fact that the hall is haunted. There are many stories about a man that once worked at the hall, Fred Gamberg, who watches the shows in the main theatre and then disappears without a trace when the show is over.

The Anglican Cathedral Graveyard is an unmarked graveyard that has an estimated 6,000 people buried there. Along with the forgotten bodies buried there, there is one worth mentioning of a worker falling to his death. Duke of Duckworth, St. John’s
If you look at the window above the entrance-way of the Duke of Duckworth, you may spot the Duke’s ghostly figure. There is also a painting in the bar for the spirit in the window. The ghost is nothing to be afraid of, he seems to just want to hang out and keep people company.

290 Duckworth Street, St. John’s
It is a well-known fact that 290 Duckworth Street is one of St. John’s oldest building or that it is haunted. Throughout the years, this historic house has had many owners, including a doctor’s office where surgeries took place. There have been many reports of the ghosts of two women in the house, one woman had an autopsy scar and the other woman had coins over her eyes and was paralyzed.
Newman Wine Vaults, St. John’s
The Newman Wine Vaults is known to have many ‘people’ hanging around. Some visitors to the vaults have claimed to be pinched and pushed around by the spirits. While there is no way to prove the stories to be true, rumours say that there is something eerie going on down in the wine vaults.

Christian’s Pub, St. John’s
Christian’s Pub is well-known for their top quality screech, but in the Pub’s not-so-recent past there was a different type of screeching going on. It is the oldest pub on George Street and they do not hide the fact the building is haunted by a young lady that the staff has nicknamed ‘Maggie’. She’s known to be a little wild and rowdy and sometimes actually damages the equipment in the bar.

Sutherland’s Place, St. John’s
Built in 1883, Sutherland’s Place is known as one of the oldest and most haunted homes in St. John’s. The ghost of an ‘old hag’ was seen by a woman who was visiting this historic house when she woke up in the middle of the night.
Majestic Theatre – St. John’s
The Majestic Theatre is also called the ‘Flat Iron Building’ of St. John’s. The building was built in 1918 and was the site of many hangings, so it is really not surprising that the building is said to be haunted. Some people have reported hearing screaming and seeing objects move on their own while spending time in the building.
