Do you have a Toronto Public Library Card?
If so, you can borrow the extremely popular MAP pass for free from library branches and visit some of the famous Toronto attractions for free starting November 20th. The MAP pass or Museum + Arts pass was piloted in 2007 with funding from Sun Life Financial.
The company pulled support in 2018. The library is restarting the program with financial support from the Bennett Family Foundation.
While MAP pass for AGO – Art Gallery of Ontario, Textile Museum of Canada, Toronto History Museums like Colborne Lodge in High Park, Fort York National Historic Site, Gibson House Museum, Mackenzie House, Market Gallery, Montgomery’s Inn, Scarborough Museum, Spadina Museum and Todmorden Mills Heritage Site is available at all branches, passes for Aga Khan Museum, Bata Shoe Museum, Black Creek Pioneer Village, Gardiner Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art, Ontario Science Centre, ROM – Royal Ontario Museum, Toronto Railway Museum, Toronto Zoo are only available at select branches.
You can borrow one pass Museum + Arts family pass per week (seven calendar days) per adult with a valid adult Toronto Public Library card and you may get one of each venue’s pass once every three months.
MAP Passes are extremely popular. You will have to visit library branches immediately after opening to get passes for famous venues like ROM, AGO etc.
How to Get a Toronto Public Library Card?
To be eligible for a free library card you need to:
— live in the City of Toronto,
— work in the City of Toronto,
— go to school in the City of Toronto, or
— own property in the City of Toronto
— Non-residents of Toronto have the option of paying a fee to obtain a card that is valid for either 3 months or 12 months at a time. See more here.
