#TorontoStrong Vigil planned for Sunday evening.

The City of Toronto will host the #TorontoStrong Vigil this Sunday evening at Mel Lastman Square. Members of the public are encouraged to attend and support all those who have been affected by Monday’s tragedy in Toronto.

This City-hosted vigil, organized in collaboration with community groups Faith in the City and the Toronto Area Interfaith Council, will be an interfaith demonstration of Toronto’s diverse communities as well as a display of the city’s resiliency.

ROAD CLOSURES

 
Road closures around the square will be in effect throughout most of the day.

Southbound lanes on Yonge Street from Park Home Boulevard/Empress Avenue to North York Boulevard will be closed from 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

All lanes on Yonge Street will experience rolling closures from Finch Avenue to Sheppard Avenue between 4 and 10 p.m. to accommodate community marches and the vigil.

Hillcrest Avenue, Elmwood Avenue, Hollywood Avenue, Spring Garden Avenue and Greenfield Avenue will be closed at Yonge Street between 4 and 10 p.m. Local access is available via Doris Avenue.

North York Boulevard, Upper Madison Avenue, Elmhurst Avenue and Harlandale Avenue will be closed at Yonge Street between 4 and 10 p.m. Local access is available via Beecroft Road.

Getting to Mel Lastman Square
Those attending the #TorontoStrong Vigil are encouraged to take public transit. Stops nearest Mel Lastman Square include Sheppard Station (south), North York Centre Station (central) and Finch Station (north).
