Vancouver’s Free Gingerbread Lane Will Fill a Downtown Hotel With Holiday Creations This Christmas

One of Vancouver’s longest-running Christmas traditions is returning for another holiday season, bringing gingerbread houses, elaborate edible creations and a chance to support children facing critical illnesses.

The 34th annual Gingerbread Lane will take over the lobby of Hyatt Regency Vancouver from November 27 to December 28, 2026. Admission is free, making it an easy holiday outing for families, couples and anyone exploring downtown Vancouver during the Christmas season.

Recognized as Canada’s longest-running gingerbread display event, Gingerbread Lane features creations made by professional bakers, home baking enthusiasts and secondary school students from across the Lower Mainland.

The participants compete in three categories. The Professional category is for people who earn income through baking, pastry or culinary work, while Amateur is for hobby bakers and others who do not earn money from baking. The Schools category brings together secondary school classes from the region.

Visitors can wander through the hotel’s festive lobby and see how participants have transformed gingerbread into detailed holiday displays.

The exhibition also supports Make-A-Wish Canada, which grants wishes to children with critical illnesses.

While admission is free, visitors who wish to contribute can donate using tap-to-donate stations or QR codes placed throughout the display. Last year’s Gingerbread Lane raised $35,000 for the charity.

“We’re thrilled to host the 34th edition of a one-of-a-kind event that celebrates community, spreads holiday cheer and raises money for a very worthy cause,” said Hyatt Regency Vancouver General Manager Patrick Gosselin.

The event has a history of ambitious edible creations, including a past Guinness World Records achievement for the world’s largest gingerbread man cookie.

Whether you’re stopping by to admire the baking skills or looking for a free Christmas activity downtown, the display offers something a little different from the usual holiday lights and markets.
