With Edmonton’s drop in temperatures comes the need to find indoor entertainment. For the more lowkey afternoons and evenings, you may want to ‘cozy up with a good book’. You can escape the chilly and overcast fall weather with all sorts of books at Edmonton’s local shops, some of which carry used titles only, those offering a mixture of new and used, or even the rarer titles. And these local bookstores all have their own nearby cafes.

This all equals a perfect opportunity for quiet alone time, or a day date with someone else: shop these local Edmonton bookstores, find the cafes in walking distance, and get cozy with your new (or used but new to you) book. If you are short on time, however, a few offer online shopping with local delivery or in-store pickup.

Wee Book Inn

Edmonton has relying on the Wee Book Inn for their used book sales and buying for over 40 years and continue on with their Whyte Avenue location. It can take hours to shop or browse the deals on a variety of genre of books; and don’t mind Fleur, the resident bookstore cat and the Wee Book Inn’s cutest employee. The Inn carry genres like fiction, nonfiction, science fiction, comic books, and manga, to name but a few. Details

They give thanks for those donations by giving you a store discount on preowned books in return! Details

These launches often host the authors, too, or double as a book-signing.
