Little Amal, a 12-foot-tall puppet representing a 10-year-old Syrian refugee, has captured hearts around the world and will be embarking on a journey in search of her mother across the Greater Toronto Area starting today in Brampton.

This extraordinary event, symbolizing her quest for a home, called ‘Walk with Amal Toronto,’ is presented by Luminato Festival Toronto in collaboration with various cultural partners in the city.
This unique project, produced by The Walk Productions and Luminato Festival Toronto in association with Handspring Puppet Company, aims to raise awareness about the experiences of refugee children and highlight the importance of human rights. Through the eyes of Little Amal, audiences are invited to see the world from a perspective of forced displacement and understand the challenges faced by those who have been uprooted from their homes.
On June 11, an hour-long parade will occur at The Bentway, featuring delightful puppets and Red Pepper Spectacle Arts performances. The parade will be around the theme of little Amal being introduced to the local animal community, including birds, foxes, beavers, and more as she explores this urban playground.
