A new easier way to pay!

The Ontario government announced that starting today credit cards can be used to pay cash fares on a PRESTO device on Durham Region Transit, York Regional Transit, Burlington Transit and Hamilton Street Railway (HSR).

Credit cards loaded on mobile wallets like Google Pay, or Apple Pay will also be accepted. This means that you can use a smartphone or a smartwatch to pay for the transit using PRESTO devices.

“This latest milestone in the continuous advancement of the PRESTO system will provide users greater ease and convenience when travelling for work, school, leisure, and more,” said Stan Cho, Associate Minister of Transportation.

The province says it is also planning to expand the credit card payment system to the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) and debit tapping payment capability to all transit agencies in the GTHA.
