From musical masterpieces to brightly lit houses, listed below are some of the best light displays that you can visit around St. John’s.
Bay Roberts Festival Of Lights
Take in the gorgeous lights and enjoy the holiday music safely in the large light park. The Festival of Lights is a collection of community events that celebrates Christmas. Two-time National Winters Lights winner, the festival hosts the largest nativity collection East of Montreal and the province’s first and largest intelligent light park. The park is open nightly from dusk to 11pm.

Ring in the holiday season with lights celebration at Bowring Park Duck Pond. Visit Bowring Park Duck Pond to view the beautiful light display that will put you in the holiday spirit while listening to a playlist of local artists performing holiday music.

Lights of Love
On the grounds of the Ronald McDonald house in St. John’s is a giant Christmas Tree covered in white lights. Throughout December, red lights will be added to the tree as people donate to the Lights of Love Tree Campaign.

Confederation Hill
Kicking off the holiday season, the Confederation Building and the trees on Prince Philip Drive will be beautifully lit up. The sparkling display is made up of around 60,000 LED lights.

Tree Lighting Ceremony is open to the public. It will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the lobby of East Block, Confederation Building, and the lights will be activated at approximately 6:15 p.m.

Light Walk
Immerse yourself in the holiday spirit with a captivating Light Walk along Manuels River. Starting at either the upper Manuels River parking lot or Gallagher Walk, this 550-meter trail, illuminated daily from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., transforms into a vibrant display of holiday lights. The trail is natural and ungroomed, so monitor weather conditions for a safe experience.
Join the Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at the Conception Bay South Town Hall on December 2, 2023, featuring the Community Youth Choir, carol singing, hot chocolate, and a dazzling tree lighting.

Port de Grave Christmas Boats
Between 50 to 60 boats are lit up with thousands of lights. Port de Grave Christmas Boats have become an iconic event. This year, the Boats are going to be lit at the beginning of the ceremony at approximately 5:30 pm on Friday, December 8th.

Crab Pot Christmas Tree in Port de Grave
It wouldn’t be a list of Christmas Light displays for the Maritimes without at least one fishing-themed display on the list. Instead of the lobster trap trees, Port de Grave has taken the route of the Crab Pot Christmas Tree. This uniquely festive display is made up of more than 475 crab pots and hundreds of lights.
