The holiday season has come to Newfoundland and homes across this beautiful province are being lit up with dozens to thousands of lights. From musical masterpieces to brightly lit-up houses, listed below are some of the best light displays that you can visit in and around St. John’s.
Port de Grave Christmas Boats
Between 50 to 60 boats are lit up with thousands of lights. Port de Grave Christmas Boats have become an iconic local favorite event. The boats will be lit up until January 6, 2021.
Crab Pot Christmas Tree in Port de Grave
It wouldn’t be a list of Christmas Light displays for the Maritimes without at least one fishing themed display on the list. Instead of the lobster trap trees, Port de Grave has taken the route of the Crab Pot Christmas Tree. This unique display is made with 475 crab pots and hundreds of lights.
Gingerbread House, Pond Road, Conception Bay South
For around 30 years, this local favorite is a must see. When lit up, the house looks like a life sized Gingerbread House. The house and lawn are lit with hundreds if not thousand of lights and some displays.
Da’s Place, Flatrock
There is always that one house that truly outshines every other house during the Christmas season. Da’s Place in Flatrock is definitely one of those houses. Growing for the last five years, tens of thousands of LED lights flash along to music you can tune in on your radio.

Michener Avenue, Mount Pearl
There is a house along this Avenue with a display that is synced to music that you can tune into on your car radio. Along with the musical house, there are other beautifully decorated homes along the way to check out on your drive to Michener Avenue.
King William Estates, St. John’s
This neighbourhood is a holiday treat with all the wonderfully decorated homes. Some house owners go all out with their light displays, while others have just a few lights decorating their homes. It is a nice mix of holiday cheer.
Intelligent Light Park, Eric Dawe Drive, Bay Roberts
Part of the Festival of Lights, the Intelligent Light Park is a new addiction to the festival. The park is open nightly from dusk to 11pm. Take in the lights and enjoy the holiday music safely in the large light park.
Kicking off the holiday season, the Confederation Building and the trees on Prince Philip Drive will be beautifully lit up. The sparkling display is made up of around 60,000 LED lights.
